Jensen Motors, Ltd was a British manufacturer of sports cars and commercial vehicles, based in West Bromwich (in the West Midlands west of Birmingham).Contents [hide]

Jensen began as a small coachbuilding firm run by brothers Richard and Alan Jensen; they bought out the body works of W.J. Smiths & Sons where they worked after the owner's death and renamed it Jensen Motors in 1934. They built exclusive customised bodies for standard cars produced by several manufacturers of the day including Morris, Singer, Standard, and Wolseley. In 1934 they were commissioned by American film actor Clark Gable to design and build a car for him based on a Ford V-8 chassis. The resultant car won them much acclaim and stimulated huge interest in their work including a deal with Ford to produce a run of Jensen-Fords with Jensen bodywork on a Ford chassis. In 1934 they also started to design their first true production car under the name White Lady. This evolved into the Jensen S-type which went into production in 1935.

Since 1998 we have been gathering expertise in the development of fuel efficient vehicles. First we constructed the archetype of Jetcar.

In 2001/02 we hired 4 new employees in the domain of automobile development. Our research and development engineers advanced and transformed the first developmental stage of Jetcar into our latest model Jetcar 2.5.
A cabriolet version of Jetcar 2.5 will be available soon.

Our project Jetcar 1.5 is currently in the developing stages. This car has the same body and an 8kW diesel engine. The anticipated consumption is 1,5 l per 100 km. It weighs 390 kg and will therefore be taxed very advantageously as a light motorcar
Technical data Jetcar 1.5

Christian Wenger-Rosenau and his brother Michael Wenger initiated the development. Their idea was to create a light, streamlined vehicle with extremely low fuel consumption. Therefore, they wanted to equip the car with a light steel frame, an epoxy glass resin body and a small volume diesel-engine.. For a long period of time both, Christian Wenger-Rosenau and Michael Wenger had been acquainted with alternative energies and their efficient use.

Since 1988 Christian Wenger Rosenau had been building smaller wind power facilities since 1995 the brothers have been projecting wind parks in northern Brandenburg.

The construction of the first wind park coincided with the beginning of the development of Jetcar. In 2001 the Windenergie Wenger-Rosenau GmbH has been founded, which then continued to develop Jetcar. Now, Jetcar Zukunfts GmbH is in charge of the development and it will produce a limited edition of 100 vehicles in Neuruppin, which then shall be sold all over Germany.

JOWETT Jowett badge
Jowett was a car marque from Bradford, England from 1906 to 1954.

The company was founded by the brothers Benjamin and William Jowett who started in the cycle business and went on to make V-twin engines for driving machinery; some found their way locally into other makes of cars as replacements. In 1904 they became the Jowett Motor Manufacturing Company based in Back Burlington Street, Bradford.

They designed their first car in 1906 but as their little workshop was fully occupied in general engineering activities, experiments with different engine configurations, and making the first six Scott motor cycles it did not go into production until 1910. This car used an 816 cc flat twin water-cooled engine and three-speed gearbox with tiller steering. The body was a lightweight open two seater. Twelve vehicles were made before an improved version with wheel steering was launched in 1913 and a further 36 were made before the outbreak of the First World War when the factory was turned over to munitions manufacture. Two tiller steerers still survive.
